Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP?

NLP is a tool used by a talk therapist. It is a way of seeking out problems which reside within the human mind and bringing out the understanding of the problem into the open to be seen, recognized and categorized by the patient.

Often patients will come into the office with a specific problem, overwhelming grief over losing a treasured pet for instance, and wish to talk about that grief. Which is exactly what the NLP Practitioner will do with the patient.

There are tools that an NLP Practitioner can enable in a patient that will help with the intense feelings he is feeling. Tools that will help categorize the emotion in a more agreeable space within the patient’s mind. However, the overwhelming grief may not stem just from the loss of the pet. The intense emotions may have started from an event in the patient’s past.

After the intense emotions are dealt with, the NLP Practitioner has the ability to talk to the patient and help the patient identify other factors that are contributing to the problem and help him walk to the solution.

An NLP Practitioner also has the tools to help make big problems seem smaller and overly stressful times in life seem less so. From simple problems like being late to work everyday, to intensely emotional problems like needing to deal with childhood neglect.
